Hypnotherapy for low mood and feelings of emptiness

I'm glad you've come to explore how solution-focused hypnotherapy might help you with the feelings of low mood and emptiness you're experiencing.

Understanding low mood and emptiness

Low mood and feelings of emptiness are emotions many people experience at different times in their lives, and it's important to understand them.

Imagine low mood as a grey, drizzly day where everything feels dull. You might notice a lack of interest in things that usually excite you, a sense of emotional bluntness, and a constant tiredness. It’s not necessarily about feeling sad or tearful; more like not feeling quite yourself.

Emptiness, in contrast, might feel like an internal void, a gap that's hard to fill. This can be tough to live with, as it’s often unclear why you feel this way. It's as if you’re going through your daily routine, but without genuine feeling or connection, leading to a sense of disconnection from both the world and yourself.

The impact on your life

These feelings can influence your life significantly. A low mood might lead to social withdrawal, difficulty concentrating, or increased irritability. Emptiness often brings isolation or loneliness, even when you're not alone.

We can recognise these feelings as normal to some extent since we all have periods of feeling low or empty. However, when these feelings persist or interfere with daily life, it may be time to seek support.

How my approach can make a positive difference

In solution focused hypnotherapy, we’ll focus on what you want to achieve rather than dwelling too much on the problems that brought you here. It's all about looking forward and setting goals that are meaningful to you. This approach is especially useful if you're feeling down or empty, as it shifts your focus towards positive outcomes and the future, rather than being stuck in the past or your current feelings.

During our sessions, I'll guide you into a relaxed, trance-like state. Many people find this state deeply relaxing and comforting. It's a bit like daydreaming, where you're still aware of what's happening around you, but you're also deeply focused inward. In this state, your mind becomes more receptive to positive suggestions and new perspectives, which can be much harder to access when you're feeling low.

Personalising your therapeutic journey

We'll use this time to visualise your goals – for instance, feeling happier, more fulfilled, or content. Visualising these positive outcomes can build a sense of hope and possibility, which might be something you're finding hard to feel right now.

An important part of our work together will also involve recognising your strengths and resources. It's easy to lose sight of these when you're feeling down. By identifying and building on your positive attributes and past successes, we can alleviate those feelings of emptiness and help boost your self-esteem and confidence.

What's really important to remember is that everyone responds differently to hypnotherapy. There are lots of causes of low mood and feelings of emptiness, like relationship and sexual issues, grief and loss, Low self-esteem, bereavement, depression, emotional struggles, guilt, low self-esteem, postnatal depression, shame, to name a few.

You are the expert in your own life

Your openness to the process and your own unique experiences will shape our sessions. My role is to guide and support you through this journey, tailoring our sessions to what works best for you.

And finally, while hypnotherapy can be a powerful tool, it's often most effective when used as part of a broader approach to wellbeing. Depending on your situation, this might mean combining our sessions with other forms of therapy or support.

As your hypnotherapist, I'll guide you through this process, offering a space for positive visualisation, relaxation, and empowerment. I understand that taking the first step can be daunting, but I'm here to support you every step of the way.
