About me

I'm Sean Parry, a clinical hypnotherapist based in Manchester, providing therapeutic support to clients across the UK and beyond.

My approach is described on my website here. It revolves around using proven techniques in solution focused hypnotherapy; methods I believe in because I've seen them work wonders.

I trained with the nationally renowned Clifton Practice (CPHT), and in 2023 I was awarded the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH) and the National Council for Hypnotherapy's Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma (HPD), accredited by the NCFE. I also undertake regular professional supervision with an accredited practitioner, and keep my practice up to date through ongoing training.
Professional memberships

I'm registered with the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH reg. no. 2430) and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH reg. no. 11683) and I abide by their Code of Ethical Conduct and Performance.

I am also registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (Reg no. CNHC08639) which enables me to work with and accept referrals for treatment from GPs.

Professional integrity

As you'd expect, I hold full professional insurance, my practice is UK GDPR compliant and I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO reg. no. ZB601365). I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

My registered office is at 35 Stamford New Road, Altrincham WA14 1EB. Face-to-face therapy sessions take place at my home-based therapy room, also in Altrincham.

You can reach out to me anytime on 07999 900770 or

Appointments: I offer online sessions via Zoom and face-to-face sessions in Altrincham. Each session typically lasts 50-60 minutes and we’ll usually catch up once a week.

Online sessions: All you need is a quiet corner and a good Wi-Fi connection. It’s best to connect via a laptop or desktop computer. Should any tech issues arise, I'll switch us over to another platform or a phone call so we can keep going.

Face-to-face sessions: Held at my home in Altrincham. Arriving 5 minutes early is perfect. I have two cats, so if you have any allergies or concerns, please do let me know.

After our session: I'm here for you during our sessions, but outside of these times, I usually don’t have contact with clients. However, if you feel unsettled after a session, I’m just a call away for support and guidance.

Expectations for therapy

No medical advice here: My website is filled with information about what I offer, but it's not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult your GP for medical concerns.

Work with your GP: Before starting hypnotherapy, it’s important for your safety and wellbeing that you're supported by your GP, especially for conditions like depression or managing pain.

Substance use policy: For the effectiveness and safety of your hypnotherapy sessions, it is essential that you do not attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or any other non-prescribed substances. Hypnotherapy requires clear cognitive function and self-control, which can be impaired by these substances. Arriving under the influence can lead to ineffective therapy and potential harm, and as such, I reserve the right to refuse a session if this condition is not met. Please note if I terminate a session because you have arrived intoxicated, I will not refund the session fee.

Tailored just for you: Each therapy session is as unique as you are. I combine various techniques to find the right fit for your needs. Therapy outcomes vary from person to person. While I can't guarantee specific results, I promise to do my best in helping you. Remember, you're paying for my professional time, not a guaranteed cure.

Your role: Solution focused hypnotherapy can be really effective, but it's also important for you to be willing and committed to making changes. Plus, the small steps you take after our sessions are crucial. Your active participation in practicing the tools and techniques I suggest will significantly contribute to and play a big role in your overall success.

Everything that you discuss with me is confidential.

Confidentiality will only be broken if there is concern about your safety or the safety of someone else or I am instructed to do so by a court. I will always try to speak to you about this first.

I do discuss my clinical work with a professional supervisor to make sure I’m giving you the best support possible. These conversations are bound by confidentiality and you will only be referred to by your first name.

I keep notes of our sessions, just for me to keep track of our progress. These are anonymised, protected with a password, and stored securely.

In line with health sector standards, I need to keep these notes for up to 7 years after our sessions end. After that, they’ll be confidentially destroyed.

You have the right to view these notes at any time. To make this request please contact me directly.

Scope of practice

Think of hypnotherapy as a supportive friend rather than a replacement for medical care. As a practitioner of solution focused hypnotherapy, I help clients create a positive mindset and implement behavioural changes through guided relaxation and positive suggestion.

I typically work with people who present a range of issues, most commonly including anxiety, depression, and anger, which often intertwine with low self-esteem and self-confidence. Clients also seek help for fears, phobias, and unwanted behaviours like smoking or vaping.

Other common concerns are skin conditions, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), weight control difficulties, high blood pressure (hypertension), and pain control, as well as emotional issues such as bereavement, blushing, breaking unwanted habits, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), panic attacks, performance issues, post-traumatic stress, relationship and sexual issues, sleep disorders, and stress.

If your needs fall outside my scope, I’ll do my best to guide you to a specialist.

Fees: Please check the home page of my website for current prices. Payments are made through bank transfer before sessions to confirm your appointment.

Pro bono therapy: For those unable to pay for therapy, I offer my service voluntarily to one client at a time, for the public good. Please ask to join my waiting list.

If you’re running late or need to leave early, let’s try to make the most of our time. If an emergency arises, I’ll be here to work out a reschedule with you.

Cancellation policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule, 48 hours’ notice is much appreciated. It helps me manage my schedule and offer the best service to all my clients. Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice forfeit 50% of the session fee. It covers the cost of my time in preparing for the session.

Refunds: Should you need to cancel, I’ll handle your refund promptly, or we can simply reschedule.

The initial consultation is where our journey truly begins. We’ll complete a form with some personal details, helping me tailor our sessions to suit you perfectly. Keeping me updated with any changes ensures our journey stays on the right path. All information you share is stored securely.

There’s no fixed destination in our sessions. You’re free to decide when our journey together has reached its course. At that point, I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback; it’s how I grow and improve. Should you decide to end our sessions, I’ll refund any remaining ones, except in cases of late cancellation.

Safeguarding your information

Your privacy is a priority. I handle your information with utmost care and in line with my Privacy and Cookies Policy. Email communications are secure, though it’s good to be aware of the risks with different email providers.

By choosing my services, you confirm that you're over 18, all the information you provide is accurate, and you won't share any materials I provide. You also confirm that you’ve consulted a medical professional who supports your decision for hypnotherapy.

Should there be any changes to these terms, I’ll make sure you’re informed.

Open door for concerns

If something's on your mind, let’s talk. I believe in resolving concerns together, in an open and friendly manner. Please don't hesitate to contact me at

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you feel your data has been used inappropriately and you can find further information about GDPR on the ICO website.

Force majeure

Sometimes, unexpected events happen, like a sudden internet outage or a personal emergency. In these cases, I won’t be able to provide services, but rest assured, we’ll work through these moments together.

Our agreement is protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. You can find information about this on the Citizens Advice website. For disputes, we’ll adhere to the laws of England and Wales.

Thank you for taking the time to go through this. I'm excited to be part of your journey towards a brighter, happier you!
